setting weight loss goalsIf I want to succeed in any diet I absolutely have to come up with achievable methods of setting weight loss goals. It is not easy to wake up in the morning and say:” this is it, I’ve had it my self, I need to change or…else”. Of course, you can’t brake up with yourself, but you can do everything in your power to change the way you are and look until you reach a comfortable weight level. The trick is to feel good about yourself, and if I am too overweight I can’t feel good because I have a constant sensation that I’m ill, I get tired too often and I can’t seem to get enough sleep no matter what I do.

When I am setting weight loss goal, I have to consider the fact that I can not reach astonishing performances in a matter of days. I am an experienced person when it comes to dieting, so I already know that a fast diet will do no more than starve my body dry and then allow it to take action fast with the boomerang effect of such diets. There might be beneficial for skinny women that just want to drop two pounds for an evening out, but for a serious weight problem they are not something that can help.

In time, I’ve established a few strategies when setting weight loss goals. They work fine for me, and I always manage to lose efficient pounds whenever I am dieting. The first weight loss goal is referring to the amount of weigh that I want to lose in a certain time frame. I’ve read various articles and also received confirmation from my doctor that a loss of a quarter of a pound a day can be done. So, a reasonable goal is to lose about 2 pounds a week. But this might be too little when we are talking about tenths of pounds that are seriously endangering my looks and health… I usually choose a middle goal, I mean I will not aim to lose only 2 pounds a week, but at the same time I won’t target unrealistic targets like 30 pounds a week. I think that an average of 6-8 pounds a week is enough for starters, but it also depends on the type of diet.

The second thing I take into consideration when setting weight loss goals are exercises. Regardless of the diet and pounds I’, willing to lose, I make a strict exercising schedule. This includes morning sessions of jogging and also afternoon gym hours. It’s very important to keep this schedule, otherwise even the most restrictive diet will not do its job. I mean, I might lose a lot of pounds a week, but as soon as the diet is over I will gain them right back.

Then, setting weight loss goals will also include the daily calorie intake. Even if the diets that are supposed to work will usually cut in half the calorie amounts, I tend to disregard that, because if I do not eat as much as I need to I will be unable to perform the exercises I have planned, and for me they are more important. If a diet restricts meat consumption, then I will not eat meat, but instead of eating 800 calories of fruits and vegetable a day, I will eat 1400-1500. My usual amount is anyways over 2000 calories, as I usually work out, so cutting back on 500 calories does a real good job. Furthermore, the diets based on greens and vegetables will help me feel better even if I do not count calories. I feel in a way more energetic and that’s probably because they have a high detoxification action.

In conclusion, I am not unrealistic at all when it comes to my weight loss goals. Sometimes, I will also plan the daily meals. Planning ahead raises my enthusiasm and also gives me enough time to find and evaluate various healthy recipes that can fit in that respective diet. Setting weight loss goals and deciding on meal plans is often the thing that makes all the difference in my dieting. Before I started doing this, I used to fail in almost any diet and frequently forgot to eat at certain hours or forgot to count the calories I was consuming.

Don’t think that I am a slim man. I am not. This is why I need dieting constantly. And it would work well, if only I could stop eating unhealthy stuff while I’m not dieting. But the long periods in which I feel able to diet help a lot, and overall, during a period of a couple of years, I have lost lots of pounds and I am a more active and successful man.

Please be sure to come back and leave your thoughts and ideas in a comment.

How to Lose WeightHave you ever been in this situation when you are clearly over weighted but for some reason some relative of yours, and sometimes even your children, have the opposite type of weight problems? It’s hard enough to deal with an underweighted wife that never has enough strength to do anything and is always feeling sick, but when you have the same problem with a child things get even more complicated. Unfortunately, I had to deal with such an issue, but happily it didn’t involve my son. It was about me and my cousin. Of course, I was the one who had many extra pounds and he was the one needing some. If only things were so simple to just give away pounds from yours to some other person…

But there is actually a way to do this, even if it’s not with brute force, and not taken literally. While he was visiting, I decided he was way too underweight, especially when I compared him to my immense dimensions. While I was right about the fact that he was a bit under normal limits, don’t imagine that he was ill or suffering from something. He was just not eating right, and I was doing the same thing, only that different circumstances affected us differently.

So, in my quest of helping him to gain weight I managed to find out a bit about how to lose weight in my case. The two concepts are not that antonymic, as opposed to popular conception. Gaining efficient weight without affecting the normal functioning of internal processes includes the same principles as weight loss. If we simply get someone 10 meals a day with unhealthy cooking and force them to eat all type of fats and fired meat we will not be helping them in any way. They will not gain the weight we want to make them gain, and if they do they will feel constantly sick. Their liver and kidney functions will get affected and we can’t reach our purposes this way. Sweets are not a solution either. Eating too much sugar gets you diabetes when you are not accustomed to it, and we don’t want that either.

So, I decided to question him a bit about these eating schedules. I was VERY surprised to find out that eats the same junk I do…he doesn’t exercise at all and pretty much has no alimentary schedule. So, in the two weeks I spent with him, we took turns in cooking meals and made a pact to include only natural ingredients and stay away from fats. We were basically looking to get accustomed to a healthy eating program rather that finding how to lose weight or to gain it in his case. We were sure that part of the problem in both cases was the stress we both had because of work issues. So, we decided to also get into aromatherapy and relaxation techniques that are explained by aromatherapy materials. I’m not sure if any of the “wonder aromas” did any wonders, but I did feel more relaxed, but again, this might’ve happened because now I was aware I had a stress problem.

For two week, we eat a normal intake of 1800 calories a day. Given the fact that I was much bigger than him, 1800 calories was in fact less that my body cells needed and for him it was more. So, what better prove can there be that eating healthy can help both ways? It’s also important to mention that we gave up on meat altogether, and eat fish instead, lots of it. Also, to avoid feeling hungry, I replaced many morning whole cereals with boiled rice with fruits…it tastes delicious. We didn’t stay away from milk, but we avoided the fat one, we only drunk partially degreased milk. In addition, because there were two of us, we successfully went to the gym daily for 30 minutes or even one hour.

The so called diet we had worked wonders for us both. Not only that he has gained 10 pounds, but I had lost 12! For me, this was a wonder because I didn’t feel like dieting at all. I simply felt better and more alive. It’s a definite plus for eating healthy…it beats any diet.

Vegetarian Weight LossI’ve had my periods of experimenting diets and healthy alimentary life styles, and for a good period of time I’ve even tried the complete vegetarian weight loss diet. Even if it has shown good results, and it promised a lot on the long run, this program is not for me. Seems a lot more like something fit for a woman. Compared to the anorexic diets women take and surprisingly appreciate, this is a heaven sent, as it’s basically all natural and is not missing lots of stuff…well except proteins, but that can be adjusted by eating fish and easy meat products, if you are willing to make a compromise.

Since I’ve been there, let me tell a bit about how it feels being a vegetarian, including goods and bads. Not everything is so peachy as convinced vegetarians claim, but it’s not by far as bad as meat-eaters tend to believe. A vegetarian weigh loss diet basically means that you will be exclusively eating aliments that are not animal based. There are variations here, some people are taking a mild vegetarian diet, and choose to eat eggs and diary products (just like I did), while others will only use it for religious reasons in different periods of the year.

In the USA, vegetarians are divided in two. The vegans are those eating exclusively vegetal products, and the vegetarians are eating fish, milk and egg along with those vegetal things. Even if the weight loss would have been more pronounced if I would’ve eaten only vegetables, it seemed like too much to me, so I choose to be a vegetarian for a while, not a vegan. But I’ve encountered many people telling me that milk form animals and eggs are not good for healthy, that they are new alimentary products (by this they mean they weren’t eaten in prehistoric times, I’m sure…) and they have been proven to have inconvenient effects on health…and so on. Others, and here I must include doctors, say that there’s no healthy diet without some milk and some eggs…opinions are as always divided.

There are obvious advantages and disadvantages to the vegetarian weight loss diet. Some pople in my vegetarian group (I’ve joined one at the time) were considering this diet out of medical reasons. Their doctors were saying that animal products have many more toxins and that there are lots of factors which target diseases in these products, including cancer triggering factors. Also, a vegetarian diet permits the consumption of aliments unprocessed, which is quite benefic to health. Other advantages I’ve clearly felt by an increased level of energy and well being are the vitamins and minerals I was eating daily.

Because I didn’t take the diet for more than 6 months, I didn’t get to suffer from any of the possible disadvantages related to it. From what others have told me, these are related to vitamin lacks, like the lack of vitamin B12, D and A and others are related to an excessive amount of carbs that we eat, coming from cereals, flour products, potatoes and sugar.

The first thing that drew me to this diet was not the vegetarian weight loss results others had but the fact that I’ve heard that vegetarians have a lowered risk of developing chronic affections. In time, I’ve realized this is just something vegetarians believe themselves, even if it’s backed by some scientific research. The thing is that the quantity of aliments counts a lot, regardless of the diet I would take. And, in additions, I’ve noticed that diseases that were until recently blamed on eat are successfully prevented today by eliminating products like alimentary preservative, sugar and over-processing of food. If we could only eat aliments clean when it comes to chemicals and if only our wives would have the time and patience to cook them healthy every time, then we would be sheltered from risks, regardless of the diet. And after all, alimentation is just one factor that causes these illnesses, but there are many others to take into consideration like bad habits (smoking, drinking, even coffee!) or lack of exercise, stress and so on.

I’ve learnt at my vegetarian focus group that the main problem of vegetarians is that they only focus on cereals and that there are newer studies which pretty much dethrone cereals… In a healthy vegetarian diet the key is diversity… We were recommended to eat, next to fruits and vegetables, a lot of nuts, seeds, roots, mushrooms, salad, spinach, olives, avocado (which I can swear tastes EXACTLY like regular butter… amazing!), sweet fruits, because natural sugar is important after all. They were not talking against eating fish or milk…they were saying nothing about these, so I’m guessing they are ok and no contra argument could be brought. If you want o lose weight, they were clearly saying that the consumption of rice, products made of flour and potatoes should not be very high.

Like everyone else, I was curious to see where my vital proteins could be coming from, if I weren’t to eat meat. I was offered alternatives like some cereals, nuts, beans, olives, mushrooms, nuts and so on. Still, I preferred to be one of those semi-vegetarians that eat fish and eggs and diary products. As far as soy goes, the opinions are not very concluding. From what I’ve understood, we can’t unfortunately consume soy prepared by the traditional Asian methods. So, it’s better to eliminate the industrial soy products that invaded hypermarkets over the years. The soy protein contained by them seems to be quite poor in quality and it comes along with lots of toxins… And there’s something else about soy. Researchers say that soy is called “the nature’s contraceptive pill”. And it’s not a pill taken by women…It works the other way. Soy is causing serious infertility problems in men. So, unless you have too many kids too handle, maybe it’s better to let the wife take pills, and not start eating soy.

In conclusion, the vegetarian diet is what you want to make out of it. Not even vegetarians are that strict. Some even claim they have vegetarian kids, but in fact they are all eating healthy stuff and not eating red meat. If you can stay away from soy, and still eat fish and milk and eggs, then you should be ok. I’ve taken this for 5 months and felt really good. I didn’t give it up because there was something wrong with it, but because there was something wrong with me, as I couldn’t stay away from meat…at least once in a while. I still feel this is a good long term idea, especially if you include fish meat and protein aliments.

weight loss motivationMany individuals are involved with various losing weight practices so they would be able to get the right results that they expect in trimming those fats. Obesity has been a common problem in the society, and there are many who would like to know what are their options to prevent themselves from adding up to the numbers of obese patients.

If a person is persistent enough to reach his or her own goal in losing weight, he or she would be needing the right weight loss motivation tips to do so. But what do you think would keep a person motivated to work on continuously losing weight? How much motivation will it take then?

Motivation for weight loss depends on how determined you are to meet what is expected and to exceed expectations. Like for instance you workout, and then you are given a certain task to be done when your in the gym and when you are at home; what you have to do is to do them both; complete your workout exercises either if your instructor is present or not. If you follow instructions accordingly, then you will definitely see better results in no time.

Weight loss motivation can also be derived from self-esteem. If you feel that you aren’t happy with what your reflection looks like in the mirror, then look for an inspirational material; probably a slim girl on a magazine or one of the celebrity models you see on TV. You can try cutting out their pictures and posting them in front of your refrigerator. So, every time you look into the refrigerator for food, you get to be reminded by those pictures that you want to have the body like theirs, and you can refrain yourself from eating too much.

Now, you also have to keep in mind that you have to set realistic goals when it comes to losing weight. These goals would pertain to how much calories do have to cut off from your diet as well as to how much workout you need on a daily basis. If you are expecting too much of what your body can give, this may lead to further frustration, and eventually it could be very demotivating on your part. This just means that you do not have to engage with low carb diets if it is not possible for you to do so. Remember, starvation is not the answer to your problem.

This would be an easier task if you are engaged with a motivation weight loss program that would help you throughout the whole process. The program includes experts which you can ask questions from and get those answers, diet plans that works according to the whole fitness or weight loss program, and the proper daily workout activities and exercises that has to be done in the gym or in your own home.

Together with all of these sources of weight loss motivation is the support from your peers, friends and family members. They would then inspire you to think highly of yourself, and motivate you to work continuously on this to achieve your success in losing more pounds.

How Inflammation Affects Weight Loss

Research during the last three years implicates small inflammation of the arterioles as a major reason for weight gain, trouble losing weight, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. The individuals do not feel this inflammation yet it gradually damages the ability to gain energy from food consumed. Over time, the inflammation promotes diseases regarding the circulatory system and type 2 diabetes.

The inflammation makes people fat by eating creating wear on the cells causing the cells to become inflamed. When the cells are inflamed, they do not use insulin correctly resulting in weight gain and fat.

All food promotes the damage on the cellular level. Food wears down the cells leading to the inflammation resulting in weight gain and issues for many people. There are some foods, which create greater amounts of wear on the cells. The majority of foods that are processed are the contributors to the inflammation of the arterioles. Processed foods are the main food substance for many people so it is actually a hidden culprit to this disease.

The inflammation is evident within the cells and arteries since the is the wear. When people consume certain foods, they are ingesting foods with free radical that are converted to damaging substances called Advanced Glycation End products. The AGEs damage the fats making up the cells and the delicate DNA within the mitochondria of the cells. These cells line the arteries perform a major function of removing the sugar in the blood system to the cells.

The body has natural enzymes that neutralize the free radicals, AGE’s, as well as other damaging substances in the body. The diet rich with processed food damages the body’s natural abilities to remove the hazardous substances leading to the inflammation of the cells and arterioles.

This makes the enzymes fight harder to remove the substances reducing the resistance levels of the body. The body becomes overwhelmed causing people to experience oxidative stress thus leading to the inflammation and weight gain. The inflammation is a leading contributor to type 2 diabetes due to the lack of insulin flowing properly in the system. The body needs the correct flow of the insulin to process sugar in the body or the individual will experience weight gain as well as other health related issues.

To help reduce the possibilities of inflammation reduce the amounts of processed foods consumed. Increase the natural foods of vegetables, lean meats, and fruits. A healthy diet will reduce the changes of the inflammation and excessive weight gain. Diets rich in natural whole grains, fruits, and vegetables also helps to promote weight loss by removing the processed foods that lead the body to storing additional fat and other damaging substances.

Body Fat And Fat Burning

Body Fat And Fat Burning

Body fat makes you fatter as well as inhibits your ability to lose weight and have higher levels of energy. When you are overweight, your metabolism is low so you do not have the energy you should have. The body fat functions as an endocrine organ that influences your ability to metabolize the fat.

Fat cells are storage tanks for the hormone related to the body’s weight and any possible weight loss of individuals. The fat stored within the body affects glucose metabolism including cortisol and leptins. They are also closely related to the levels of energy and how the body metabolizes the fat consumed and stored.

Recent studies have proven the fat cells are far more important in the role of weight gain and energy levels of individuals with the hormones related to the weight levels. Based on the studies, the fat cells not only store the hormones they secrete them into the body and blood stream. This process is an endless negative cycle for people wanting to lose weight since they need to control the secretion of the harmful levels in order to effectively lose weight.

In simple terms, the more body fat a person has the higher their levels of the levels of the hormones within the body adding to the weight issues. To fight the battle of the weight gain and hormone levels stored in the body, reduce the body fat levels.

To truly understand the roles of the hormones that are affecting the weight issues will help realize the importance the hormones play in the weight related problems.

Cortisol is stored in the fat. When your body fat increases the enzymes increases converting the cortisol to become active and released from the fat into the blood system. Cortisol increases the levels of energy and metabolism. It inhibits levels of glucose metabolism that make you store fat. In respect to using cortisol as a means of weight loss, a very effective natural hormone helps to increase the levels of energy and metabolism resulting in weight loss.

Leptin is a key hormone secreted by fat cells helping to regulate the eating tendencies. Leptin enters the blood signing the brain you are full. The excessive body fat stores the leptin hormones elevating the levels causing leptin resistance similar to diabetics with insulin resistance. The leptin resistance results in over eating since the person’s body does not signal they are full.

Both elements are easily combated by reducing the body fat levels. Exercise and a healthy diet help to reduce the amounts of body fat limiting the negative effects of storing the hormones in the body fat. Reducing the storage of the hormones results in weight loss.

What Is Topical Weight Loss?

weight-loss-spot-reduction

Spot reduction weight loss is a reality with topical applications of the asthma drug aminophylline. This is a dieters dream come true. Studies back the findings, which increases the spot reduction on the body.

The studies showed the lypolytic threshold in the different areas of the body result in the fat being stored more than other areas. Lypolitic thresholds are the way the body stores fat in the areas of the body and how it is released into the blood stream. The aminophylline reduces the thresholds in those regions of the body.

The study includes 50 men and women ranging in ages 21 to 65. The controlled group and the experimental group both had a reduced caloric diet with the controlled group using 5% aminophylline cream to the waist areas. They rubbed 15 cc of cream twice a day to the waist areas. There were not any significant side effects in the experimental group. At the end of the 12-week period, the experimental group had an average of 6 cm smaller waists compared to the controlled group.

The body mass index of the group using the aminophylline as less than the controlled group. The hip to waist ratio was also less in the group using the application. The women in the group using the application have more losses than the men. The fact the experimental group versus the controlled group did not have any differences in the total body weight. The study stated this was due to the redistributed of the fat mass. Based on the findings of the study it was conclude the aminophylline cream application caused the reduction of fat.

The fact the study was funded by a foundation to sell the product is not lost on many weight experts. The fact the application was a cream based product tends to have many believe study used a specialized cream that was formulated specifically for the study and to reduce the risks of rashes in the groups involved with the study.

This does not remove the fact the cream will eventually appear on the market to help with spot reduction of weight for many people. The cream may have only reduced the fluid in the fat cells without actually removing the fat cells as the study indicated.

The fact that aminophylline was used in the case study requires many to understand the drug itself. Aminophylline is in the xanthine class of drugs. This is the same class as caffeine and vinpocetine. They are stimulants used for asthma and bronchodilators. Aminophylline inhibits the breakdown of camp or cyclic adenosine monophosphate within the cells and based on the research lowers the lypolytic threshold of fat cells.

Only time will tell if the FDA approves the cream for use as a weight loss product, yet it is still something to watch if you are a dieter seeking to lose fat in certain areas of your body.

Weight Loss And Leptin Resistance

How Inflammation Affects Weight Loss

Leptin resistance is being recognized as a leading cause of age related weight gain, obesity, and weight management. The prolonged high levels of leptin create a chronic weight problem with the foods high in carbs and cholesterol. The leptin resistance causes weight gain, premature aging, and obesity.

Leptin is a key hormone related to hunger, metabolism, and energy from fats and carbohydrates that are stored in the body. The word is derived from the Greek word leptos that means thin. Leptons are the body’s natural hormone to produce higher levels of energy, reducing hunger, and increasing the metabolism.

Leptin circulates the hormones in the blood system that tells you have consumed enough food. It signals the brain to start burning fat consumed and stored. It is the center of the brain to signal you are full so you will not eat more food. It also signals the fat cells with the hypothalamus if you need more fat cells.

Women have higher circulating levels of leptin than men do. This why women tend to suffer from more weight related issues. Leptin is the hormone responsible for weight loss and weight gain.
Leptin resistance is much the same as insulin resistance in diabetics. For the diabetic, the insulin resistance continuing elevated levels of insulin in the body makes the muscles and fat cells resistant to the natural action of insulin. With leptin resistance, the body has continued elevated levels of leptin decreasing the hypothalamus’s sensitivity to leptin leading to weight gain.

Leptin resistance leads to weight gain and issues since the body does not know to reduce the food intake due to the lack of communication about the levels of hunger. Without the body knowing it is full, the individuals continue to eat increasing their carbohydrates and calories leading to the excessive weight gain.

Several diet pills have found this hormone deficiency and included a hormone activator helping to increase the functions of the natural hormone and promoting weight loss. The results of the diet pill do cause weight loss for many people, especially the suffers of leptin resistance.

Many doctors are currently recognizing the importance of leptin in their patients with excess weight complications. Studies are being done currently to help clinically with the weight issues related to leptin levels. It has become a major health factor the medical field is starting to take seriously such as diabetes since both cause negative health issues in many people.

Dealing with leptin resistance can be dealt with properly with a change of the diet as well as adding natural vitamins and minerals in addition to changing the current diet and exercise levels. For the suffers of leptin resistance it is important to consult your doctor for possible medication to help promote leptin within the body similar to the diabetics taking insulin.
